Frequently Asked Questions for the Group 3 range of products

What programmes do the Drivers Support?

1. NI LabView on Windows and Linux

2. InTouch Wonderware for Windows

3. Limited EPICs support

Whats the Number of Channels?

1. The number of channels supported depends on the type of I/O board mix. Each loop can support 16 device interfaces, each device interface can accept 3 I/O boards and each I/O board could support up to 24 digital channels, 8 14 bit analogue, 2 16 bit analogue channels or a mix. The two extremes are 1152 digital or 96 16 bit analogue channels per loop.

Can one I/O board have inputs and outputs?

1. Yes see type "A" board

Is there a PID control module available?

1. Yes the CNA has a built in PID algorithm. The user can configure the various coefficients to define the response of the control loop. Typical applications include the use of a Hall probe to maintain a constant magnetic field in an electromagnet. The 0-10V outputs from the CNA module can be used to drive the power supply to the magnet.

Any analogue signal can be used to provide the input parameter for the PID loop, meaning that PID control can be applied to almost any system be it temperature, power or position information.

What is the sampling speed?

1. Generally 33 sps is available. It does depend on the number of channels in the loop.
