| Synergy System Architecture
As shown in the block diagram below, all Synergy models begin with independent high-precision differential input amplifiers and 2 MS/s, 16-bit digitizers for every channel. Users have a choice of three input modules to support almost any combination of signal types.
The economical Basic Input Module provides direct connection to voltage or pre-conditioned signals. The Universal Input Module provides excitation power for both DC bridges and constant-current ICP® sensors as well as cold junction compensation for thermocouple measurements. The High Voltage Module supports high voltage /power and isolated applications. For oscilloscope use, the wide bandwidth of 1 MHz assures that every detail of the signal is captured. For FFT use, a sharp-cutoff filter may be switched in to provide anti-alias protection even when a low over sampling ratio is chosen. A DSP in each input module manages data flow, providing selectable filtering, trigger comparisons, real time maths and statistical data reduction for each channel. In Recorder mode, triggering is available not only from channel levels but also on real-time virtual channels such as RMS, max, min, frequency or slope. A number of standard calculations are provided, which the user may chain together for more complex real-time analyses. Extended Acquisition Performance The Synergy 64 offers all the acquisition and analysis capabilities of the Synergy Portable system with expansion capability for additional channels. Available in Benchtop and Rackmount configurations, the Synergy 64 supports up to 64 high speed channels with no degradation of acquisition performance. The innovative distributed acquisition and processing architecture offers up to 200 kS/s continuous direct to disk recording per channel or 2 MS/s digital scope/transient per channel capture capability regardless of the number of active channels. The distributed, multi-processor environment offers real time analysis and filtering on all channels.
For additional expandability, Synergy’s master/slave architecture enables multiple systems to be fully synchronized and controlled from a single system with the touch of a button to create even larger channel count systems. The user is free to mix and match Synergy Portable or Synergy 64 systems in any configuration.
