Why use a point2point Fibre Optic Link Fibre Optic Links have many advantages over conventional galvanic conducting cables such as coaxial cables, leading to their wide use in many applications. The main benefits include immunity to interference, very low loss and electrical isolation. Most Fibre Optic links are application specific, for example a digital data link. These cannot easily be configured to carry generic electrical information. There are many applications where it would be beneficial if a coaxial cable could be directly replaced by a fibre optic link. In fact manyEMC test standards (for example DO-160, ED14, Def. Std. 59-41, IEC, CISPR and EN) recommend the use of fibre optic links to ensure isolation and signal integrity. There are also many other test and measurement applications that can be greatly enhanced by the use of fibre optic links PPM has designed a range of analogue fibre optic links that can be used as direct coaxial cable replacement. PPM's point2point products offer high performance over bandwidths from true DC to 3GHz. All have very wide dynamic range and are simple to operate. PPM also offers intelligent fibre optic links that offer multiple inputs, signal amplification and adjustable input attenuation, all of which can be controlled via RS232 or IEEE488 interfaces Find out more, including specification, information in our products section. |
